Worth pulling?
No pulling needed — free story reward. Solid early-game DPS. Replaced by S-tier later but always usable.
Mint is a free Anima/Liquid Sub DPS obtained through the main story in early chapters — no pulls, no special grind required. She fills the role of rapid-combo DPS for new players, using dual-blade attacks and stamina-fueled AoE bursts to deal Anima damage while Haniel and Esper Zero provide buffs and reactions. She is T2 at launch and eventually replaced by S-rarity Sub DPS picks, but remains a permanent fixture in F2P teams and an excellent starting point for learning Anima team rotations.
How to Play
Mint’s combat feel is built around speed — her dual-blade combo sequences hit rapidly, each individual hit is small but the cumulative damage adds up quickly. Her stamina-fueled AoE provides burst coverage against grouped enemies, and her Redirect (6-second cooldown) allows frequent repositioning without losing combo momentum.
Core mechanic — Task Force Operation (A2): This awakening is Mint’s defining node. It causes Critical Riposte to reset Redirect’s cooldown when triggered. Critical Riposte activates on CRIT hits during specific attack sequences. The result: on a high-CRIT build, Mint can chain Redirects much faster than the base 6-second cooldown implies, dramatically increasing her mobility and damage density.
Combo loop with A2:
- Enter melee combo — deal hits to accumulate CRIT Rate
- Critical Riposte triggers on a CRIT hit → Redirect CD resets
- Use Redirect immediately to reposition and continue combo
- Repeat — in good CRIT conditions, you chain 3+ Redirects per 10 seconds
Without A2, Mint plays like a standard 6-second-Redirect Sub DPS. With A2, she feels like a completely different character.
Arc comparison:
| Arc | Key Effect | Verdict |
|---|---|---|
| Clear Skies | Boosts Anima DMG, especially Skill + Ult | BiS — direct amplification of Mint’s strongest hits |
| Standard Anima alternatives | ATK% or CRIT% subs | Fallback if Clear Skies unavailable |
Clear Skies is the correct choice because Mint’s Skill and Ult hits are her highest multiplier windows. A 15–20% Anima DMG% bonus from Clear Skies amplifies those hits more than a flat ATK% Arc would.
Awakening priority:
- A2 (Task Force Operation): First priority. Resets Redirect on Critical Riposte — transforms Mint’s mobility and combo cadence.
- A3: Enhances the AoE stamina burst or extends its damage window.
- A1: Rotation smoothing — minor but free improvement.
Stat priority:
- ATK%: Base damage floor — keep it high
- CRIT Rate: Fuels the Critical Riposte trigger for Redirect reset chain
Endgame targets: ATK 2,300+, CRIT Rate 55%+. CRIT DMG is secondary to Rate because more crits means more Riposte triggers with A2, which is worth more than pure CRIT DMG in Mint’s loop.
Module set — Fireflies and the Forest Cartridge: Provides Anima DMG% and CRIT DMG stacking tied to combo frequency. Mint’s rapid hit rate means she stacks the CRIT DMG bonus faster than any other character using the same set, making it her best-in-slot despite being shared with Nanally.
Best Teams
F2P Starter: Mint / Esper Zero / Haniel / Chiz. All free characters, zero pulls required. Mint handles rapid Anima damage, Esper Zero enables Blossom reactions, Haniel provides Hootie ATK buff, and Chiz covers Cosmos burst via Grain conversion. See Haniel’s build for Hootie stat investment and Esper Zero’s build for the Blossom enabler role.
Early Game Any: Mint works in virtually any early-game team due to her Anima element flexibility. She pairs with any buffer and any Tank without element-specific restrictions. As you acquire S-rarity characters, she naturally transitions into the “fourth slot” role while Jiuyuan or Nanally take the primary Sub DPS or Main DPS positions.
Anima Blossom (budget version): Mint / Haniel / Adler / Esper Zero. Adler’s shields replace the Tank slot while Mint and Esper Zero cover Anima/Cosmos reactions. Less efficient than the Jiuyuan version but functional at zero pull cost. Compare with Jiuyuan’s build to see when upgrading that slot is worth the pull.

Worth Pulling?
You never pull for Mint. She is a free story character obtained by progressing through early chapters — every player has her automatically.
The correct question is: how long should you keep Mint in your team? The answer depends on your pull situation:
- Zero pulls / F2P: Mint is a permanent team member. She is the correct Anima Sub DPS until you pull Jiuyuan from the standard banner.
- Light spender (one featured banner): After pulling Nanally, Mint transitions to fourth slot while Nanally takes Main DPS. Mint continues contributing through Blossom reaction support.
- Mid spender (Jiuyuan obtained): Jiuyuan replaces Mint as Sub DPS. Retire Mint to exploration/farming team.
Mint is not obsolete even after replacement — her low-cost kit and reliable Anima damage make her a permanent farming character for content below max difficulty. Check the tier list for the current Sub DPS rankings and visit Jiuyuan’s build page to see what you’re upgrading toward.
