NTE Esper Cycles: Reactions and Failed-Switch Checks
Build a valid two- or three-attribute Cycle, distinguish Discord from Stain, and diagnose why a full gauge did not produce the intended reaction.
Start with the gauge and receiving character
Fill Cycle Rate, then switch to a compatible adjacent attribute. The receiving portrait highlights when it can participate. Switching to an incompatible attribute can be a normal swap with no Cycle, even with the gauge full. A three-attribute plan first establishes a two-attribute Cycle and then connects the third attribute.
The original Prydwen mechanics guide, April 23, records the baseline system. Individual character enhancements can alter effects; a launch baseline is not a claim that every later character has identical modifiers.
The six adjacent pairs

Charge: Blossom hits during Remora
Use Cosmos, Anima and Lakshana. Establish Remora and arrange for Vita Bud hits while it is active. Those hits supply Ultimate energy. Owning three elements does not itself grant a fixed percentage faster Ultimate cycle: target movement, hit timing and state uptime determine the result.
The Charge example includes all three required attributes and explains which substitutions preserve them. Zero’s instant Cycle Skill is useful for preparing a connection; it is not a substitute for the missing third attribute.
Discord: Nova and Scorch together
Use Psyche, Chaos and Incantation. Discord deducts part of the Break bar when Nova and Scorch overlap on the target. Stain is not its prerequisite. A single trigger does not promise a full Break or an indefinitely controlled boss.
If it fails, check whether the first state expired before the second arrived, whether both landed on the same target, and whether the switch actually produced a Cycle. Discord operating sequence.
Match enhancements to the actual damage type
Jiuyuan increases the Blossom bud limit; Mint’s Blossom enhancement increases area, which helps groups rather than a single target’s area coverage. Sakiri buffs qualifying DoT during Scorch, but Jiuyuan’s attachment is not classified as DoT for that passive. Use each character’s dated build reference before assuming similar-looking effects interact.
